They Are Coming with the Same Playbook, Just a Different Year
Every political season, the script stays the same. When the establishment can’t challenge your vision, your integrity, or your commitment to the people, they resort to the old playbook. They try to spin a narrative, discredit, and ask where you’ve been, hoping the community has a short memory.
Well, let them run that same old playbook. This is a different year, a different chapter, and I am ready. My record stands on its own, and my dedication to the United States Virgin Islands has never wavered—whether I was holding a gavel in the Senate or working quietly on the ground in our neighborhoods.
The Record They Can’t Erase
When they talk about a record, let’s talk about real, structural leadership. As a former Senator and Senate President, I never backed down from the tough fights. I stood up for accountability, fought for transparency in our government, and dedicated my career to policies that put the people of this territory first.
That wasn’t just a job to me; it was a calling. And when I stepped away from the legislature, I didn’t step away from public service. I simply shifted where I did the work.
Preparation and Professional Growth
I didn’t sit still. I knew that to solve the modern, complex problems facing our territory today, I needed to sharpen my tools. In 2022, I graduated from Villanova University with a Master of Public Administration (MPA) and a Certificate in City Management.
I didn’t do that for a title. I did that to bring modern management strategies straight back home to our community.
Over these last eight years, I’ve kept my boots on the ground in the private sector too:
- Running a consulting firm to help local entities build solid operational foundations.
- Managing a prominent local shopping center—a brief but invaluable stint that gave me direct, firsthand insight into the daily struggles and logistics local business owners face.
- Stepping up as a radio host, using the airwaves to keep our community informed, independent, and engaged on the issues that hit closest to home.
Service Out of the Spotlight
True public service isn’t defined by a press conference or an election cycle. It’s defined by what you do when the cameras are off.
For years, I chose to step away from the political spotlight for my most important assignment yet: being the primary caregiver for my elderly mother, ensuring her comfort, dignity, and love until her passing in 2022.
That journey required absolute patience and profound empathy—it shaped my heart in ways no public office ever could.
And I took that same spirit of devotion straight back into our streets:
- Investing in Our Youth: I have been mentoring young adolescents seeking direction, offering them a steady hand and real-world guidance. I’ve also been organizing hands-on educational field trips to major hotels and resorts, introducing our students to the career potential within the hospitality and tourism industries so they are prepared to run our territory’s largest economic engine.
- Protecting Our Elders: I have quietly and consistently spent my time assisting seniors throughout our community who need a helping hand, ensuring that the generation that built this territory is never forgotten or left behind.
My Answer to the Playbook
So let the critics and the political insiders pull out their old scripts. Let them ask their questions.
My answer is simple: look at my record, look at my continued service to our children, our elders, and our local businesses, and look at the preparation I have put in to ensure I can deliver the professional governance this territory desperately needs. That is the record. That is the service. That is the readiness.
I haven’t gone anywhere. I’ve been right here, learning, growing, and serving from the ground up. They are coming with the same playbook—but we are coming with the truth, my record, and my continued service.
